About Dawn

Dawn began her journey of spiritual exploration and personal healing in the 1990s. This included Reiki training, purchasing her first harp, and ultimately becoming a licensed massage therapist in Virginia and West Virginia in the late 90s. Dawn was a full-time massage therapist, also practicing Reiki and craniosacral therapy, for eight years.

After moving to upstate New York in 2009 Dawn joined the staff of CNW School of Massage as Admissions Director and remained in that position through 2014. Meanwhile, Dawn reinvigorated her interest in the harp. She began putting together the harp with her voice and performing at public concerts, special events, retirement and nursing homes, and churches. Dawn has been involved in singing and music for most of her life and has had a good deal of vocal training and experience which includes weddings and church jobs.

In 2014, Dawn became certified in VibroAcoustic Harp Therapy which draws on her skills and experience as a harpist, vocalist and therapeutic practitioner.  While no longer sharing this work, it was a profound experience to receive the training and explore this aspect of vibrational healing.

In 2015 she traveled to Scotland and played in Rosslyn Chapel as well as Iona Abbey on the island of Iona, and at the Calanais Stones in the Outer Hebrides.  This was an amazing journey to sacred places and to lands visited and inhabited by Dawn’s ancestors the Vikings.  The piece she developed to play in Rosslyn Chapel is featured on her EP entitled Poems and Prayers and the video of her performing this piece is on the home page of this site.

Dawn was hired by Saint Peter’s Health Partners in 2016 to play and sing for hospice patients through the Community Hospice.  Working with people moving toward transition is so deeply profound and sacred.

In 2017 Dawn became a Certified Music Practitioner (CMP) through the Music for Healing & Transition Program, Inc.™  MHTP professionally trains and certifies musicians to provide live therapeutic music at the bedside of the ill and dying to create a healing, comforting environment.  Also that year Dawn was hired by Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York to play harp and sing in the Emergency Department and in the hospital lobbies two days a week.

Dawn began traveling to Ireland in 2018 with four trips.  In each of those journeys she made connections, new friends, sang and played her harp or singing bowl in various places in the country including the inner chamber of Newgrange passage tomb in the Boyne Valley on the afternoon of the winter solstice, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, Ennis Parish Cathedral in Ennis (County Clare), Saint Michan’s Church in Dublin, Grange stone circle close to Lough Gur in County Limerick, the famous Fitz’s Pub in the Hotel Doolin (Doolin, County Clare), many holy wells including Saint Patrick’s well in Clonmel (County Tipperary) and Saint Brigid’s well in Liscannor (County Clare).  In March of 2019 she gathered with friends and local community in Ennis for Gaelic practice and also to play in various locations in Dublin and Ennis.  In June of 2019, Dawn went to Brittany on a tour through https://bouldermasterbuilders.com/ to learn about sacred geometry and how this influenced the construction of the ancient cathedrals.  There she was able to sing and play a singing bowl to help restore the energetics of certain structures.

Dawn is now leading meditations with guided imagery, the harp, singing bowls and chanting.

The Mindful Heart is her latest creation.  See that page on this site.

Dawn lives in Old Chatham in Columbia County, New York with her coated Peruvian named Espero.

Speaking of dogs, here’s an interesting article on the benefits of live music for animals:
